About the Archive

Some storiesrefuse to disappear.

Forbidden Lore is an independent archive exploring documented mysteries, enduring legends, strange encounters, and original stories from the edges of the unknown.

The Idea

An archive for stories at the edge of what we know.

Every culture has stories about things that exist just beyond ordinary experience. Strange lights crossing the night sky. People who vanish without explanation. Houses said to be haunted. Creatures glimpsed where no known animal should be. Legends repeated for centuries.

Some of those stories begin with documented events. Others survive through folklore, oral tradition, and generations of retelling. And some are created simply because human beings have always loved telling stories about the dark.

Forbidden Lore was created to collect and explore all three without pretending they are the same thing.

The archive distinguishes between documented cases, folklore and legends, and original fiction so that you always know what kind of story you are reading.

The goal is not to tell you what to believe.

The goal is to make you wonder.

The Creator

B

Created by Bree

Built by one person with a fascination for the unknown.

My name is Bree, and I created Forbidden Lore.

I've always been drawn to mysteries, strange history, unexplained events, folklore, and the stories that make you stop for a moment and wonder whether there might be something more going on than we understand.

Forbidden Lore grew out of that fascination. I wanted to build a place where these stories could be collected, organized, researched, and explored without turning every mystery into a sensationalized headline.

I also wanted a place where a centuries-old legend, a documented unexplained case, and a piece of original dark fiction could exist in the same archive without confusing one for another.

The archive is intentionally independent. There is no large media organization behind it and no newsroom deciding what is interesting enough to publish. Forbidden Lore is a personal project built around curiosity, research, storytelling, atmosphere, and the enduring appeal of the unexplained.

Whether you believe in ghosts, cryptids, UFOs, paranormal encounters, none of it, or simply enjoy a good mystery, you're welcome here.

"I'm not here to tell you what is real. I'm here to open the files, follow the stories, and let you decide what you think."

— Bree, Creator of Forbidden Lore

How the Archive Works

A documented story is not the same as a proven claim.

Strange stories often contain several layers: what is known to have happened, what witnesses reported, what investigators concluded, and what later generations came to believe.

Forbidden Lore tries to keep those layers separate.

A witness can be documented without their explanation being established as fact. A historical event can be real while the legend surrounding it grows over time. And an unexplained case does not automatically require a supernatural explanation.

When evidence supports an ordinary explanation, that belongs in the story too. When accounts conflict, the disagreement is part of the record. And when the available evidence does not provide an answer, the case remains unresolved.

Sometimes the most accurate answer is that we simply do not know.
