The Object Over Blackwater Desert
The object appeared just before midnight.
Four people saw it.
It hovered above the desert.
For nearly twenty minutes, it didn't move.
Then it disappeared.
The Observation
The group had stopped their vehicle beside a remote road.
They were photographing the night sky.
One of them noticed a light above the horizon.
At first, they assumed it was an aircraft.
Then they realized it wasn't moving.
The Shape
The witnesses disagreed about the object's exact shape.
Two described a flattened oval.
One described a triangle.
The fourth refused to describe its shape at all.
They all agreed about one thing.
It produced no sound.
The Movement
The object remained stationary for approximately fifteen minutes.
Then it moved vertically.
It rose several thousand feet in seconds.
It stopped.
Then it descended again.
There was no visible acceleration.
No change in brightness.
No sound.
The Compass
One witness had a handheld compass.
During the sighting, the needle began moving erratically.
They initially blamed the vehicle.
But when they moved farther away, the compass continued behaving strangely.
As soon as the object disappeared, the needle returned to normal.
The Vanishing
At approximately 12:19 a.m., the object became brighter.
Then it vanished.
The witnesses described the disappearance differently.
One said it blinked out.
Another said it seemed to move upward too quickly to follow.
The others simply said it was there.
Then it wasn't.
The Recording
One witness attempted to record the object.
The resulting video contained approximately fourteen minutes of footage.
The object was visible.
But the image was badly distorted.
Several frames appeared completely black.
The recording ended several minutes before the object disappeared.
Nobody knows why.
No Explanation
The witnesses reported the incident to no official agency.
They simply went home.
Years later, they still disagree about what they saw.
Aircraft.
Atmospheric phenomenon.
Military technology.
Something else.
There is no way to know.
The desert kept its secret.
Some things are easier to explain when they're far away.
This one wasn't.
